My Love and I Reunited Today….

The doctor said I should try staying away from her for a whole month to see if it would help improve my health.  I did as best I could and resorted to being with her once or twice a week for only short visits.  Doc said to take it easy.  But for a guy like me, taking it easy just isn’t that easy!

That month of not being able to be with her like I had wanted was agonizing.  But she understood.  She would be ready whenever I was.  Knowing that made it even harder to stay away.  She’s always so compliant, never complains.  What if this being away improved my health?  Would that mean that her and I would have to take a permanent break after this hellish 30 days?  I’m already moody as it is.  Can’t imagine how it would be without her….

My health hadn’t shown any improvement even without seeing her for that whole month.  So when I saw her tonight all inhibitions were gone.  She wasn’t what was causing my affliction afterall!!  Though her and I could have went at it all crazy like we had in the past, we decided that it would probably be best if we eased back into it.  I realized that the time apart was a good chance to realize how lucky I was to be able to spend as much time with her as I wanted as I did in the past.

I found myself in a way falling in love with her all over again.  Noticing all the little things she does and how I smile inside each and everything.  I felt like I was on cloud nine after the time we just spent together.  Earlier today I found myself stressed out about all the usual.  I knew that as soon as her and I were together that all those things would vanish as her and I would embrace each other just as we did before the doc’s recommendation.  So relieved that she wasn’t the cause of my ailment.

She’s always there when I need her.  An unconditionally healthy and amazing influence in my life.  She is the gym ;)

While You Wait for the Government to Pass Healthcare Reform…

I think there’s a good chance that absolutely nothing will get accomplished as it relates to the government’s potential health care revamping effort. It would be great if a bill got passed that both sides of congress agreed on, but let’s get real, they can’t agree on anything, so why should we expect them to agree on an issue as polarizing as health care?? So instead of sitting there and waiting for the government to do something about health care and its ever increasing costs, get up and jog while you wait! Take this crisis into your own hands and do your part by making yourself healthier!

The poor condition of the health care system isn’t rooted in the government, it’s rooted in the poor health of the average American. It’s rooted in the poor health of the average American who finds any excuse not to exercise. It’s rooted in the poor health of the average American who who never bothers to read food labels. It’s rooted in the poor health of the average American who is looking for the quick fix or the latest cleanse/starvation diet that ultimately reduces net metabolism despite quick a weight loss.

John F. Kennedy was famous for saying, “Ask not what your country can do for you! Ask what you can do for your country.” Do this for your country. Do it for YOU. Make yourself healthier by eating better and exercising more. IMAGINE how much less heart disease and diabetes there would be. IMAGINE how much more efficient the work place would be without all the sick days taken. IMAGINE looking at a healthier, happier you in the mirror.

America is a good and strong place that has in the past been able to overcome crises by banding together as we did during WWII, and the days and months following 9/11. If we can all band together this time by taking basic steps to increase the collective health of America, then in the future we can all look back and feel proud that we did what was necessary to uplift and empower America during such a dark, and tumultuous time. So if we can all consistently lessen the amount of food on our plates, we in turn lessen the amount on the government’s plate as well. I’m sure we can all agree that the government has enough on it’s plate. In a dining room where the people sitting at the table can’t do anything but argue with the people sitting on the other side.

Let’s lighten the load both literally and figuratively speaking for ourselves and our country. Let’s be patriotic by adopting healthier habits and encouraging those around us to adopt those habits as well. What have we got to lose? I’ve done the math and it’s a win/win situation every time. Now it’s your turn ;)

It’s NEVER too late to start working out, apparently it’s never too early either… this little guy probably gets all the chicks on the playground! hehe

MORE Abs Abs Abs…. Do as many ab exercises as you can, and never do them at the beginning of your workout. It’s important always to do them at the end because they’re the foundation from which your whole body moves and you don’t wanna weaken and expend your foundation before you do other movements and exercises. Mix it up too, don’t just do lower abs or upper abs… hit the obliques too!! Do some twisting movements n side crunches, some leg lifting movements and upper ab crunches all in the same day so the whole thing can be strong. Also, the lower back is part of the core as well, so you definitely wanna do some lower back extension exercises!! The more you exercise your core today, the more your lower back will thank you as you get older :) See you later fitness friends :) :) :)

6 Properties of Living Things and How It Relates….

So I was I the shower this evening after doing some reading for my astrobiology class. The topic of the chapter was, “What Is the Definition of Life”. At a very basic level we can describe something as living if it has the capability to reproduce on its own and if it has the ability to evolve.
To go a little further in depth, in addition to the two afformentioned traits, all living things also are based on the following: an ordered structure, the fact that they metabolize energy, organisms respond to their environment, they grow and develop, and finally, all organisms have a molecule to pass down hereditary information (in most cases DNA).
Now to a lot of you this is old news. But I started thinking of ways these 6 aspects of life itself can be applied to other aspects of life and success. Take for instance running a business. In order for a business to be successful it must adapt to its environment by adapting to the ever changing needs of customers. Businesses most certainly need order and structure so that things may run efficiently as things pass up and down through the chain of command. Businesses most certainly reproduce products that are favored by their customers while extinguishing the unfavored ones. And you could say that the formula to pass down traits of a business lies in the information vital to the policies, protocol, and standards by which the company adheres to in order to maintain structure, efficiency, and continued growth.
If all 6 of these aspects are equally taken into consideration it’s logical that there will be success in almost anithing you apply it to whether it be in a literal or hypothtical sense. Afterall, it took life here on Earth billions of years to get where it is today so we must conclude that this system has been extensively time tested and will continue to be the model of success till the end of time.

For your core program you’re gonna wanna do as many ab exercises as you can handle, and never do them at the beginning of your workout. It’s important always to do them at the end because they’re the foundation from which your whole body moves and you don’t wanna weaken and expend your foundation before you do other movements and exercises. Mix it up too, don’t just do lower abs or upper abs… hit the obliques too!! Fitness on a Budget

k, so you’re on a tight budget… well, the best thing i can recommend is to try some workout videos so you can see exaclty what to do… Tae Bo worked wonders for my mom, but there’s a WHOLE bunch of good ones out there.  Sure you can target those specific areas but you’re gonna wanna build lean muscle all over your body so that you can increase your metabolism.. the more lean muscle you have, the more calories your body is gonna burn even when you’re not working out… on the most basic of basic levels, the most important thing to do is to get into the habit of getting in some sort of exercise everyday… be it a tae bo tape, a long walk , a hike, playing some kind of sport…. work your  core 3 times a week…  a good video combo would be to do Tae Bo one day, and a Pilates tape the next… that way you’ve got variation with strength, endurance, and core training.. as you start off, take it nice n easy for the first couple of weeks… as you stay consistent, be sure you progress your program so that you’re gradually increasing the intensity little by little with each workout…. lunges are great for the glutes and thighs, do them often… if you get tired of the tae bo stuff, get some different videos that focus perhaps more on conventional exercise like “fitness made simple”… hopefully this stuff helps… feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions :)

One of my clients workin those abs hard doing a bridge with her forearms on a foam roller… super tough and hard CORE! ;)
